Welcome to "The Terrifying," a virtual sanctuary where the eerie whispers of horror stories come to life, meticulously crafted by me (Mihir Dabhi), a dedicated MBBS graduate with a profound love for the enigmatic and the macabre. Within these web pages, you will find a collection of spine-chilling narratives that transcend the boundaries of the ordinary and tales that grip your soul with icy fingers, drawing inspiration from the masterful works of literary giants such as Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, and H.P. Lovecraft.

Immersed in the shadows of mystery and darkness, I am not only a connoisseur of horror fiction but also a seeker of the unknown, delving into the depths of urban legends, ancient folklore, and haunting mythologies to unearth tales that send shivers down the spine. With a voracious appetite for the supernatural and the unexplained, I am constantly exploring the realms of terror to bring you stories that linger long after the final page is turned.

As I traverse the corridors of the literary world, my ultimate aspiration is to see my own name among the revered authors of horror, with published novels and compilations of short stories that leave a lasting impression on readers and sear themselves into your psyche. Through "The Terrifying," I invite you to join me on this thrilling journey as we navigate the realms of fear and imagination together, embracing the darkness to discover the hidden truths that lie beyond the veil of the ordinary. Dare to step into the abyss with me, where the line between fiction and horror blurs, and the true terror awaits.

The Valley of Peace

The watch showed 5.30 PM. It was a hot summer evening in Iraq. The sun was setting, painting the sky in an orange hue. And there I was, standing before the gates of a place like no other that I had ever visited. Only the dead have seen the end of war. That was the quote that came into my mind as I stood before the largest cemetery of the world. ' Wadi-al-salaam ' or ' The Valley of Peace ' as they call it! It was my unplanned visit to Baghdad and then to Najaf that had finally brought me there. Ever since my childhood, after I came to know about that place, I had a curiosity about visiting it someday. If you look up for images of that place on the internet, you would fail to think of it as a graveyard at the first glimpse. I felt like it was a huge city with millions of houses lying in close proximity. There are in fact around 5 million graves there but that city has no living members. It is at the second glimpse that you notice the beauty of it; which I think would be ...

Jesse had a nightmare. She woke up sweating. She was paralyzed. The attacks of sleep paralysis had been getting worse over the past few weeks. Taking medications had helped her with the panic attacks though. She now lied there, her body paralyzed and her mind gripped with fear. Her therapist had advised her to think of things she liked when she was in such a state. So, she thought of how she had met the love of her life, Michael. She thought of how he had changed her after they met. It was not long before they were married and she thought of it. But with it came the thought of how things had changed between them over the past few years. And that they had decided to get divorced. Growing up in an orphanage, it was not easy for Jesse. Michael was the probably the first person who felt like family. And so, being separated from the love of her life had left a lasting impression on her. She had gotten heartbroken, depressed and delusional. Not that she was a weak woman, but she had nev...

"Emily!?"

Background Photo of the Mansion by Lucas Allmann from Pexels “Hey, watch that brother! Just don’t get us killed.” I yelled as the truck barely escaped colliding with a car approaching us from the opposite direction. After sighing a bit of relief, I further added “Are you out of your god-damn mind, Jeffrey! Are you high? And God save us if we get pulled up by some fucking cop for crossing the speed limit!” “Just don’t worry so much man! I know how to drive. And you better thank me for bringing you here with me or else you would be with your old woman right now.” replied Jeffrey in a peculiar tone which always made me uncomfortable. Even after being his friend for too long I couldn’t get used to his tone and his unpredictable nature. At times, he was so calm enough as if all the tranquility of the sea was transformed into him and at times he was so fierce, just like a wild animal. We have been friends since a long time and I have had many experiences with him. Still I coul...
